Poul Anderson, Twilight World, 15, p. 160; 16, p. 162.
Here is another image that could be adapted directly to screen. Collie, trekking alone across Mars, wants to sink into the darkness of the warm primeval ocean lapping beneath the surface of his mind. He hears wind and waves and sees sunlight on foam. When he loses consciousness, he falls into the ocean.
A hook bites and draws him toward sunlight burning a watery sky and a monstrous Fisher. He pulls down and threshes but is pulled up toward the booming voice of the Fisher. The air cuts and the light burns. The Fisher says:
"He's coming around." (p. 162)
The Fisher is Alaric Wayne, as Gratillonius' was Corentinus. See The End Of Ys.

Kaor, Paul!
And we saw a similar Fish in THE AVATAR, which was also hooked but managed to escape.
And we see Christ summoning Peter to follow Him in the Gospels, declaring that He would make Peter a fisher of men.
