Poul Anderson, "The Children of Fortune." See here.
One of the "supermen" says that:
Nietzsche did not mean what the North American government is now doing with its "favorable mutations" program;
George Bernard Shaw "'...was the real superman-monger...'" (4, p. 92);
Shaw was clever, witty and humane but also shallow, unable to think and a despiser of scientific method.
He has said much! Is that Anderson's assessment of Shaw? In any case, Shaw joins Nietzsche and Jerry Siegel on our list of "superman" writers. (Of these, Siegel alone wrote "Superman.")
If I were a superman, then I would be able to write all night. Instead, my next clever, witty and humane thoughts must be published tomorrow.
Addendum the following morning: See also An Unexpected Future History and Yggdrasil And Youth.

Kaor, Paul!
I think Anderson's "The Chapter Ends" comes closest to showing us "supermen" as we see that word used in the SUPERMAN comics. "Chapter" shows us men able to fly and traverse interstellar distances at FTL "speeds" by acts of the will. And they were also quasi immortal.
