A Signed Copy

I have just noticed something either for the first time or as if for the first time. I have a copy of the first printing of Poul Anderson's Murder Bound (The Macmillan Company, New York, 1962), "A Cock Robin Mystery," which was purchased on Amazon. (See the first image.) The flyleaf is inscribed:

"To Grace and Dana Warren
"(Dana doesn't have to read it!)
"Poul Anderson
"Christmas1961"

Above that inscription is another, smaller one:

"Doloris Rivers -
"with delight -
"Grace"

My copy of Anderson's Perish By The Sword (The Macmillan Company, New York, 1959), "Winner of the Cock Robin Mystery Award" (see the second image), also described as a "first printing," purchased separately on Amazon, is inscribed on its flyleaf in similar although not identical handwriting with:

"Please return to
"Al Anderson"

Lastly, while googling for book covers, I found an image of another inscribed flyleaf of Perish By The Sword. See the third image.

Usually, we discuss the contents of books but occasionally we focus instead on the physical features of particular copies

Kaor, Paul!

I think it's VERY cool that you have a signed copy of one of Anderson's books! Plainly, this Grace and Dana Warren were friends of Poul Anderson.

"AI Anderson"? Didn't you mean "Poul Anderson"?

And one thing I noticed about the second book signed by Anderson was how someone had clipped the corners of the jacket cover! I've never liked that abominable habit of clipping corners!

Sean,
Al, or maybe Ae, Anderson.
Paul.

Hmmm, this copy might have belonged at one time to somebody named "Al Anderson."

Bit of a coincidence.

True, but coincidences do happen! It would be far more UNLIKELY for there to be no coincidences.
