Avalon has a Hesperian Sea and Aeneas has Hesperian Hills.
In Poul Anderson's History of Technic Civilization so far:
Manuel Argos defeated Gorzuni slavers and founded the Terran Empire;
the Empire forcibly annexed Ansa;
Avalon successfully resisted the Empire;
Dominic Flandry defended the Empire against Merseians and Aenean rebels;
Freehold successfully resisted the Empire;
now Ivar Frederiksen of Aeneas leads an attack on Terran Imperials.
So whose side should the readers be on? As in real life, we have to think for ourselves - which is maybe Anderson's point?
An easy to remember list:
Argos
Ansa
Avalon, with a Falkayn
Flandry
Freehold
Frederiksen on Aeneas

Kaor, Paul!
I'm trying to avoid spilling too many beans, but I will say it's pretty plain which "side" Anderson himself favored in THE DAY OF THEIR RETURN.
