A man is a Shaman not if he contacts the supernatural but if he can articulate the difficult language of the Dwellers. Human nomads and Dwellers trade metal, organic fuel and plastic substances and organize mutual defense against the Kha Khan's sky raiders.
We can be certain that:
Ydwyr the Seeker would want to study the Ice Folk;
there must be some connection between the Ice Folk's vast mental reach and the pandemic Mind into which Aycharaych has looked more deeply than anyone else.

Kaor, Paul!
And I remember how one of the Ice People told Flandry (thru the Shaman) that he thought they could mentally reach even Terra, but only thru dreams. Which wasn't something Flandry could use!

'expandable as snowshoes, foldable as skis (neat)"
That is neat. Having done lots of X-C skiing and a bit of snowshoeing, skiing is much faster especially if one is following tracks set by someone else since the latest snowfall, but snowshoeing is much better for getting into forested areas with no reasonably straight trails cut through the trees.
Kaor, Jim!
Then you would probably like visiting Altai, frigid weather and all!
Ad astra! Sean
It depends on how frigid.
I really like skiing when temperatures are between -5 & -15 C.
I'm OK with temperatures a bit under -20 C. I just need lots of layers of clothing.
Today the temperature is -30 C & I'm wimping out about going outside.
Kaor, Jim!
Ha! I would find both Altai and a Canadian winter far too cold for me, thank you very much!
Unan Besar, despite the need for regular doses of antitoxin pills, would be far more to my taste!
Ad astra! Sean
