It is so far north that the planetary rings are faint on the southern horizon. The setting Krasna reddens the snow. There is no sound. Wind raises ice crystals. There are ruins of the buildings that the Ice Folk abandoned. White trees have blue leaves. The lake is pale blue with mist above.
The Shaman:
raises arms;
sways;
chants;
throws back head;
closes eyes.
Flandry does not know whether this performance is:
superstition;
formal ritual;
literal summoning of the Ice Folk.
I am glad that Flandry knows the difference between superstition and ritual. The Shaman has already said that the Ice Folk know of the human presence. In any case, they come.

Kaor, Paul!
I suspect it was mostly the second and third, a formal, ritual summoning of the Ice People.
