Hoppers And Scooters

I have got(ten) used to referring to Time Patrol time machines/temporal vehicles as "timecycles" but it has occurred to me to check what they are called in the series. So far, I have scanned only the first three stories in Time Patrol (Riverdale, NY, 2010).

(Before the Time Machine, HG Wells wrote about a "Chronic Argo.")

"Time Patrol"
time hopper, pp. 20, 29, 30, 43, 44
hopper, pp. 23 (x 2), 33, 34, 42, 46, 50 (x2), 53
machines, p. 43
machine, pp. 20, 45, 50

"Brave To Be A King"
scooter, pp. 62 (x2), 81, 82, 83, 93, 94, 97 (x2), 103, 106, 110
gadget, p. 82
machine, p. 62, 97, 105, 108, 110
time machine, p. 93
hopper, pp. 84, 108
device, p. 95
engine, pp. 95, 102
thing, p. 104
iron throne, p. 108

"Gibraltar Falls"
hoppers, p. 115
hopper, pp. 120, 122, 125
vehicle, pp. 116, 120, 125
carrier, pp. 120, 125
machine, pp. 120, 126
machines, p. 123
vehicles, p. 126
flyer, p. 119

I have not double checked every reference and will, of course, correct any errors or omissions that come to light. I did not find "cycle" in any of these stories although the machine is compared to a motorcycle on p. 20 and the hoppers are compared to motorcycles on p. 115.

"Man does not live by bread alone..." (p. 118) is a Biblical reference but probably one that I have noted before.

Kaor, Paul!

I think I would favor either "time hopper" or "time machine."
