Ujanka on Golden Bay is the main seaport of Kursoviki. In the High Housing, wealthy Toborko/Tigeries surround their houses not with gardens but with "...trained jungle...," inhabited by "...venomous reptiles..." (p. 52)
Despite her importance as captain, shareholder and speaker, Dragoika prefers to remain in her stone-built ancestral home on Shiv Alley in the old East Housing where she is surrounded by:
furs
carpets
furnishings
books
weapons
bronze vases
bronze candelabra
glass goblets
seashells
plunder
narcotic smoke from a brazier
Ujanka combines attractive wealth with unattractive alienness.

I can see "trained jungles" being the kind of gardens favored by wealthy Ujankan Tigeries. But stocking them with venomous reptiles was one detail I missed in all my previous raadings of ENSIGN FLANDRY.
I also recall Flandry asking if Dragoika ever worried about muggers and robbers in the East Housing. One of her retainere replied criminals had learned better than to try bothering them!
