Dhech And Qwynn

Ensign Flandry, CHAPTER TWELVE.

This chapter discloses two Merseian names that have not been noted before. When Dwyr the Hook, whom we already know, reports:

"'Prime Observer Three to Intelligence Division Thirteen.' A string of code symbols followed. 'Prepare to receive report.'" (p. 116)

- the report is received by Dhech who states neither his nickname nor his Vach presumably because this is a secret communication so information is kept to a minimum. Dwyr reports that Abrams has traveled to a location in a hill suburb of Ardaig which Dhech identifies as "'Fodaich Qwynn's home.'" (p. 117) We are told Qwynn's personal name and rank but nothing else.

Dhech thinks that Abrams has abandoned his espionage attempts whereas, in fact, Dwyr is spying for him! Code word: "Meshuggah." (p. 118)

Abrams is one hell of an Intelligence agent and a suitable inspiration for Flandry. There is no equivalent figure in the James Bond series.

Kaor, Paul!

I am not quite sure your comment, about James Bond, was correct. So, from the two 007 books I've read/reading so far, Bond's relationship to his chief, M, was virtually that of how a protege would regard a revered mentor. Rather like how Dominic Flandry came to think of Abrams.
