In The Morning

The Day Of Their Return, 6.

After some digressions, it is time to return to Ivar Frederiksen among the Aenean subcultures, beginning with the tinerans.

Mikkal of Redtop:

"'Let's doss. The trouble with morning is, it comes too damn early in the day.'" (p. 118)

Indeed. If you work, then get into bed eight hours before you have to get up. Plan enough time between getting up and starting work for breakfast, commuting, whatever. I used to allow some time between waking up and getting up, which meant going to bed a bit earlier to get the full eight hours sleep. At boarding school, we were told that the three bells in the morning were meant to be get up, get out and stragglers. I consistently treated them as wake up, get up and get out which meant that I was always a straggler. An advantage of retirement is being able to lie in bed as long as you want. I get twenty minutes meditation before breakfast which I did not feel able to do when working although meditation came later in the day. In the morning, I recommend the Upanishadic verse:

"We meditate on the lovely light of the god, Savitri. May it stimulate our thoughts."

This is a breakfast post.

When Ivar is among the Riverfolk, they greet the sun. These are all good experiences for a future Firstman of Ilion.

Kaor, Paul!

Ivar's journey reminded me just now of the adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Jim down the Mississippi River. A bildungsroman.

Ad astra! Sean
