Starfarers, 4, pp. 30-33.
This chapter informs us that:
biomedicine gives human beings 100+ years of healthy life;
Selim ibn Ali Zeyd has been to Epsilon Indi;
a space war has delayed but not stopped the international Envoy project;
Osman Tahir, dying in an Istanbul hospital, campaigned for the project for 50 years;
Zeyd visits Tahir and will be in the Envoy crew.
p. ix lists names of ten crew members, including Zeyd, so readers have to be introduced to all ten before the voyage begins.

Kaor, Paul!
I remember Osman Tahir! A hard drinking, hard charging, no nonsense politician. If he had been 20 or even 15 years younger, I think he would have joined the crew of "Envoy."
Ad astra! Sean
