Operation Luna and A Midsummer Tempest.
The Fair Folk shun sunlight whereas demons like heat so, on the Moon, benign Beings colonize the night side whereas evil Beings colonize the day side and both groups must keep moving.
Valeria Matuchek's achievements:
she is the first human being on the Moon in the goetic timeline;
on the Moon, she kills three Asiatic demons with the sentient sword;
by accelerating back to Earth, she draws after her the remaining demons who are then defeated by a waiting army of gods and magicians;
she learns theorems that enable her to cross between continua and to arrive in the one that she wants or a close facsimile;
by deducing the existence of an interuniversal nexus, she enters the Old Phoenix;
in the Old Phoenix, she advises a legendary hero about interuniversal travel;
she lives longer and does more that we do not know about.

Kaor, Paul!
I have wondered if the smart thing for the "demons" on the Moon to have done after Valeria accelerated back towards Earth would have been to abandon the Moon and flee to another hiding place elsewhere in the Solar System. Mercury, for example. Given the sheer vastness of the System, it might well have been difficult and time consuming to hunt them down.
I am not so sure Valeria can just "arrive" at the Old Phoenix Inn the way you and I could deliberately choose to go to X or Y. The strong impression I got from Anderson's two Old Phoenix stories was that Mine Host Taverner chooses whether or not to allow certain persons to enter the Inn. So, until the Inn APPEARS to her, I don't think Valeria could just visit it anytime she wishes.
It is a pity we got no more stories from Anderson featuring the Matucheks and their children.
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
Valeria tells Holger:
"I even deduced there had to be an interuniversal nexus. That's how I found the Old Phoenix." (xi, p. 96)
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
I sit corrected, then! Somehow Valeria did deliberately find that interuniversal nexus which is the Old Phoenix Inn. Then the questions that comes to me is whether Mine Host would allow Valeria to purposefully visit the Inn.
Ad astra! Sean
