Holger and a Faerie knight fight with lances on horseback, then with swords on foot. Holger stabs at a crack above his opponent's gorget. The opponent collapses and lies still, then turns out to have been an empty suit of armor.
In Thor (2011), Thor fights an empty suit of armor which had a history in the comics. (See image.) An excellent cross-reference is made when a SHIELD agent asks, "Is that one of Stark's?" See here.
Notionally, all fictional universes, including those of Poul Anderson and of Marvel Comics, can coexist.

But I find the stories of Anderson, Niven, Pournelle, Davidson, Stirling, etc., far more satisfactory than movies like "Thor." I find most "SF" or fantasy movies too ghastly to deserve comparison to the written works of master writers.

I thought that the empty suit of armor made an interesting comparison, though, especially since we had just referred to Thor in the previous post.

Granted! You saw a faint echo in "Thor" of the empty suit of armor Holger Danske fought.
I also thought of how, after Merry and Eowyn slew the Witch King at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, the Witch King's armor was seen to be empty after his undead flesh vanished.
