Comparing Chronologies

(This might be my favorite Poul Anderson cover. The first three Technic Civilization Saga covers show van Rijn, Falkayn and Ythrians. Vol III gives a real sense of Ythrian anatomy, showing the legs that have become arms.)

23rd C   establishment of Polesotechnic League

24th C   "The Problem of Pain"

In The Chronology in The Technic Civilization Saga:

23rd C   The Polesotechnic League is founded as a 

               mutual protection association of space-faring

               merchants. Colonization of Aeneas and Altai.

24th C   "The Problem of Pain"

Observations

The Chronology, never concluded or complete, is refined in successive editions.

"The Problem of Pain" makes no reference to the Polesotechnic League and I do not think of it as a League period story.

"The Problem of Pain" refers to the university in Nova Roma on Aeneas as little and new. It is several centuries old and an important institution in the Flandry period. The series resembles real history.
