Starting The Next Challenge

The Devil's Game, BYRON SHADDOCK, pp. 123-133.

Byron Shaddock begins his chapter by describing the weather. I will read about his challenge tomorrow or the day after.

I do not understand the rules of the game. Gayle Thayer failed her own challenge but is still in the game. Is each contestant allowed to fail his or her own challenge? Maybe this earlier passage is relevant?

"'Of course...the leader must perform personally. He can stop or modify or completely change his demand at any instant, subject only to the rules of fairness.'" (INTRODUCTIONS, pp. 15-25 AT p. 24)

Larry Rance leads a long distance swim but then refuses to eliminate anyone and declares the game ended from when he himself landed. (LARRY RANCE, pp. 69-80 AT p. 80)

Kaor, Paul!

I think it's mostly up to the player who's "It" to decide if another player failed the game and got washed out.

Ad astra! Sean
