The seven "Important later" items permeate the later history:
van Rijn's first trader team comprises one Hermetian, one Wodenite and one Cynthian;
in later periods, the Baburites invade Hermes and the Terrans invade Avalon;
later again, there is an Aenean rebellion, an Ythrian spy on Aeneas, a renegade Duke of Hermes and a Wodenite Jerusalem Catholic priest!
The major figure not mentioned so far is Dominic Flandry who, among many other accomplishments, defeats the Aenean rebellion, thwarts the Duke of Hermes and funds Fr. Axor's research but unfortunately is never seen again although the Technic History continues even after that.

And there were characters we see only once or even only by being mentioned that we would like to know more about: such as the Widow of Georgios or Leon Ammon. I'm sure you can think of similar characters as well.
