Julia begins her present tense narration.
Colors
Dawn is "...white over the sea." (p. 233) To the west, the land is black and the sky is purple. Dew glitters on lawns and flowers.
Sounds
Birds twitter. Surf sings.
Sensation
The air is cool...
Odor And Taste
...and salty.
She looks, inhales, tastes, hears and feels.
Why can't all the characters just get out of bed and do that together? Today, I will drive to Morecambe Bay, have lunch on the front, then enjoy the view from Andrea's front window above the Old Pier Bookshop.

We are not all like that because we are all different, with different tastes and preferences. For instance, I really should not be so much of a night out, but sometimes go to bed early enough to wake up soon enough to enjoy dawn as Julia describes it.
And I really like used bookstores like that of Andrea's! I'm sure you have purchased copies of Anderson and Stirling's books there.
