I googled "computer analog" but got "analog computer" but do not think that these are identical. A computer is not an "analog" (noun) for a mind because the latter is conscious whereas the latter is not.
Haverner impoverishes a man who then commits suicide although Haverner does not understand why he did it: a lack of empathy. Will the study of psychology help him to understand?

Haverner's inability to understand the despair of the man he bankrupted does show a lack of empathy on his part! Apparently, what ever Haverner did was technically legal, however unethical it was due to timing, location, etc.
