Night Thoughts And Relevant Other Reading

We have had holmgang before, both in Poul Anderson's Hrolf Kraki's Saga and in his Psychotechnic History. Now I discover that the giant Rungnir challenges Thor to Holmgang in Chapter 8 of Roger Lancelyn Green's The Saga of Asgard and I have also found two appropriate images.

This makes for a short post which I dedicate to Morpheus whose realm I will shortly enter.

Kaor, Paul!

And Poul Anderson's HROLF KRAKI'S SAGA is one of my favorites of his Scandinavian books. I also think well of his historical novel THE LAST VIKING. Do you have any favorites in this subset of his works?

Just in case you are still not getting email notifications of blog comments, I left a note in the combox of your "Holmgang" blog piece from 2012.

Sean,
I don't think I have a favorite.
Although I am still not receiving email notifications, there is a "Details" section of the blog which informs me of comments.
Paul.
