Kaor, Paul!
Which makes me all the more INDIGNANT at how Poul Anderson has fallen into relative obscurity, even among SF fans. People still think mostly of the overrated Isaac Asimov and the post STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND works of Robert Heinlein when it comes to science fiction. And a few one offs by other writers such as Walter Miller's A CANTICLE FOR LEIBOWITZ or Frank Herbert's DUNE (both of them major works deserving their fame).
But for well written, high quality, imaginative works of science fiction and fantasy with solid plotting and realistic character development written over a LONG period of time, Anderson beats them all!
Yes, David, I know you would include as well the stories of H. Beam Pipter! (Smiles)
