Afterword And Introduction

In Poul Anderson, Rise Of The Terran Empire (Riverdale, NY, 2011):

p. 323 is Hloch's Afterword to The Earth Book Of Stormgate;
p. 324 is blank;
p. 325 is Donvar Ayeghen's Introduction to "The Star Plunderer."

Thus, here is an end and a beginning. However:

"The Star Plunderer" climaxes with the proclamation of the Terran Empire;

the Earth Book is written in the wake of a war against the Terran Empire described in The People Of The Wind on pp. 437-662 of The Rise Of The Terran Empire;

The People Of The Wind features Arinnian of Stormgate Choth whose human name is Christopher Holm and who wrote or co-wrote some of the texts collected in the Earth Book.

Thus, the full story of the Earth Book continues until the last page of Rise Of The Terran Empire. After that, we have a real new beginning with Dominic Flandry in Vol IV of The Technic Civilization Saga.

Kaor, Paul!

One thought I recently had was to think "The Star Plunderer" would fit in a bit better in the Technic Civilization stories if Donvar Ayeghen and his introduction were omitted.

Strictly speaking, "The Star Plunderer" does not end with the formal inauguration or proclamation of the Terran Empire. Rather, it ends with Manuel Argos beginning to plan the founding of the Empire. He first needed to get control of Earth, for one thing!
