See Avalonian Scenery.
Rapid planetary rotation regularly raises violent tempests. Wind lifts. Clouds whirl like night. A hurricane shrieks for hours. Aircars crash. Jack Birnam, walking alone in the Andromedas, now camped on a ridgetop, is safe in a heated sleeping bag, hood and breathing mask, protected from hail and debris by a duraplast sheet on a collapsible alloy frame immovably secured by pegs with exploding heads.
After the storm, Laura has set, Morgana shines, snowfields glitter, boulders and shrubs are silvered, a chuckling stream flows like mercury, a cataract booms, the chill air smells of sharp trefoil, sweet livewell and janie, Jack snacks and drinks coffee. (Five senses.)
The story is about Jack rescuing an injured Ythrian but I continue to read in search of more information about Avalonian scenery.

Kaor, Paul!
What I thought on reading this blog piece was that Avalonian meteorology still had a long way to go before weather forecasts became accurate. Then a lot fewer aircars will crash or persons of both races getting hurt.
