The Technic History In Media SF

I should have added in the previous post that, if Poul Anderson's Technic History makes it to the screen big time, then the series will penetrate media-oriented sf shops. Imagine entering such a shop and seeing a poster of Nicholas van Rijn or of a Merseian, models of the Hooligan or of Ythrians and Diomedeans in flight, Chereionite Tarot cards, a Technic civilization encyclopaedia, treatises on the little that is known of non-human languages. (Too little, unfortunately. We know little more than the names: Eriau, Planha... Indeed, what does Anglic sound like?) There is room for speculation about the contents of The Sky Book Of Stormgate and of the various sources for the Earth Book.

It seems wrong to me that everyone knows about Luke Skywalker, Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock and that so few comparatively know about David Falkayn, Dominic Flandry and Aycharaych.

Kaor, Paul!

Absolutely! Baffling, frustrating, aggravating that everyone around the GLOBE knows about Luke Skywalker, Captain Kirk, and Mr. Spock but not about Nicholas van Rijn and Dominic Flandry. Even Asimov's overrated FOUNDATION series got filmed!

Ad astra! Sean
