An unnamed Grand Survey spaceship discovered the massive star, Valenderay, and the inhabited planet, Merseia. The Valenderay supernova threatened Merseia with both immediate and long-term consequences.
A second unnamed Grand Survey spaceship discovered the massive planet, Paradox. The follow-up expedition to Paradox also visited the nearby inhabited planet, Trillia. Consequently, Trillia started interstellar travel and the peculiar properties on the Paradoxan atmosphere enabled a wily Trillian to trap three human pirates.
When discovered, Ythrians had some Stone Age and some Iron Age cultures whereas Mersia and Trillia were each undergoing their first Industrial Revolution. Trillians developed a primitive form of interstellar travel whereas Ythri and Mersia were able to buy into Technic civilization.

Even if the Trillians themselves were content to sink into quiet obscurity afterwards, I regret we don't see them again after "A Little Knowledge."
