The Man Who Counts, VIII.
I read of Diomedean war and find that I have posted about it before. See:
Some details:
a weighted net thrown around a flying opponent to make him fall to his death!;
the flying archers!;
during on-deck fighting, "Hard-pressed, a male would fly upward - there was little attempt to keep ranks, it was a free-for-all." (p. 189);
IIRC, van Rijn later shows that it is easy for infantry holding shields above their heads to capture a position because the enemy have no idea of defending on the ground. In fact, see Fighting On Foot.

Kaor, Paul!
I understand the purpose of the weighted net, but it seems rather a clumsy weapon to use on a MOVING opponent. But I can see it working often enough to justified being tried.
Ad astra! Sean
