The Shield Of Time, PART TWO, 1987 A. D.
On the one hand, I want to analyze every atom of Poul Anderson's Time Patrol series and am reluctant to reread a passage without making any comments that come to mind. On the other hand, doing this generates a lot of repetition and maybe I ought to exercise some degree of editorial restraint?
Everard tells Wanda:
"'It could turn out that you and I never had this talk today, that we and our whole world never were, not even a dream in somebody's sleep. It's harder to imagine and harder to take than the idea of personal annihilation when we die. How well I know.'" (p. 31)
This time I will say only that I have responded to this line of thought before! (Most recently, here.) But I will take up the discussion again if any blog reader wants that.

Kaor, Paul!
Since I believe in an afterlife, I am not as sure as Manse was about there being only a "personal annihilation" after one's death.
Ad astra! Sean
