Thrintun And Tnuctipun: Slavers And Rebels

The Slavers are a part of the background of Known Space that can be either ignored or incorporated into new stories. Poul Anderson's first and third MKW stories focus on cosmic phenomena whereas his second is about a rediscovered tnuctipun weapon utilizing a cosmic phenomenon.

Pournelle & Stirling's second MKW story begins with the Slaver Dnivtopun before he goes into stasis. Their second begins with the tnuctipun rebel Durvash before his ship lifts - and he goes into stasis? Read on to learn more.

Could the Slaver War become another franchise universe with stories set back then instead of in the Known Space period? A past history of unknown space?

Kaor, Paul!

A thought I had just now was to think the Tnuctipun reminded me of the humans Stirling's monstrous Draka bred into being "natural" or "voluntary" slaves, the Servus subspecies we see in DRAKON. The Draka wanted humans who were utterly docile to their domination but who had not thus lost the ability for imaginative scientific research. I can't help but some of those "Servi" managed to deceive the Draka as the Tnuctipun had done the Slaers!

Ad astra! Sean
