"Gibraltar Falls"
The Mediterranean floor is 10,000 feet below the level of the Atlantic;
the inflow is 10,000 cubic miles per year;
this equals 100 Victoria Falls or 1000 Niagra Falls;
the strait is 50 miles wide;
beyond the strait, the channel widens and islands appear although most of them will be eroded;
changed weather will destroy much local life as the Pliocene replaces the Miocene;
the headland that will be Gibraltar is visible;
there is a 20-mile-wide, one-mile-high cataract;
Feliz flies down the cataract and falls into it.

Kaor, Paul!
Writers like Anderson in "Gibraltar Falls" and Julian May in THE GOLDEN TORC (second volume of THE SAGA OF PLIOCENE EXILE), can give us some idea of what Gibraltar Falls must have been like--but the sheer STUPENDOUSNESS of the Falls is beyond, or nearly beyond human comprehension.
Ad astra! Sean
