Michael Karageorge

Hank Davis not only compiled Baen Books' seven volume complete collection of Poul Anderson's History of Technic Civilization, under the title The Technic Civilization Saga, but also wrote the Introduction to "Sargasso of Lost Starships." The names cited in this Introduction are:

Donvar Ayeghen
Winston P. Sanders IX;
D. H. Thomas; (?)
Lester Dent;
Walter B. Gibson;
Norvell W. Page;
Michael Karageorge. (See here.)

Fictitiously, Karageorge writes the Introduction to "Sargasso..." Factually, Davis makes a good contribution to the History.

Kaor, Paul!

Poul Anderson used in "Winston P. SANDERS," not "Saunders." And I've wondered where he got that pseudonym. The "Winston" reminding me of Winston S. Churchill.

And Michael Karageorge's surname is the same as that of the old Serbian royal family. Descended from George "Black George," who led the Serbs in a successful revolt against Muslim Turkish rule. Was PA aware of all this?

Sean,
OK. "Saunders" was my mistake.

I know I read SOMEWHERE from either PA himself or a knowledgeable person how he came to use "Winston P. Sanders" and what it meant. Anderson even used that name to kind of "insert" himself into one of his Flying Mountains stories, "Recruiting Nation."
