Kaor, Paul!
A few quick comments. I agree with what you would include in RISE OF THE POLESOTECHNIC LEAGUE. And ditto for DECLINE OF THE POLESOTECHNIC LEAGUE and RISE OF THE TERRAN EMPIRE.
I was a little surprised you included "Outpost of Empire" and THE DAY OF THEIR RETURN in the YOUNG FLANDRY volume. But, on reflection I agree with it. The only quibble I have about the CAPTAIN FLANDRY book is that I would place "Hunters of the Sky Cave" after "A Plague of Masters." Because "Hunters" is set late in the reign of Josip III.
We seem to disagree on how best to list the contents of THE POST IMPERIAL AGE. My perhaps faulty recollection is that "The Sharing of Flesh" SEEMS earlier than THE NIGHT FACE. The Allied Planets mentioned in "Sharing" seem to be a still new and recent development as civilization began to arise again after the chaos of the Long Night. THE NIGHT FACE seem to show a later, more "developed" stage.

Sean,
"The Sharing of Flesh" refers to Gwydiona.
I thought it was wrong that CAPTAIN FLANDRY should begin with two non-Flandry installments.
"Sky Cave" happens shortly after "The Game of Glory." "Honorable Enemies" happens during "The Game of Glory" and after "Tiger by the Tail." "A Plague of Masters" happens immediately after "A Message in Secret."
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
Dang! You are right! I remembered now that "Sharing" mentions interdicted planets like Gwydiona. So THE NIGHT FACE is before "Sharing." Drat!
Hmmm, I would list some Flandry stories like this:
"Tiger By The Tail"
"Honorable Enemies"
"The Game of Glory"
"A Message in Secret"
"A Plague of Masters"
"Hunters of the Sky Cave"
I put "Tiger" first because mention was made somewhere that it was Flandry's scotching of the Scothan threat which earned him a knighthood.
Sean
Sean,
Flandry is referred to as the conqueror of Scotia in "Honorable Enemies" so "Tiger By The Tail" deffo comes first.
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
And I'm almost sure the first, unrevised version of "Tiger By The Tail" was the very first ever PA story I ever read.
I still think "Hunters Of The Sky Cave" has to be considered the last of Flandry's adventures in Josip's reign.
And the mention of "interdicted" planets in "The Sharing of Flesh" makes me wonder exactly what that means. In the case of Gwydiona it seems plain enough: the tragic mutation suffered by the inhabitants of that planet must have convinced the Allied Planets that the most humane workable solution was to forbid anyone from off planet to land there. Any attempt to reverse the mutation would have to be done very cautiously, and only after long study and research. And then comes the problem of persuading the people of Gwydion to accept such a solution.
