Canebrakes And Glissandos

By the Highroad River at Lulach on Daedalus, there are trees and canebrakes. Terrestroid life has been introduced to the planet. See "The Colonization Of Daedalus" here.

Water gleams.
Air is cooler under the trees.
There are unfamiliar odors.
There are whistles and glissandos.
There is a sense of fecundity.

Four senses and a rich vocabulary.

The Game Of Empire, Chapter Fifteen.

Kaor, Paul!

And on some planets colonized by human beings terrestroid life forms drove out or supplanted native plants. Because the terrestrial plants were tougher and more advanced. Which is what happened on Altai and Nike.
