Anderson combines quality with quantity. In Hegelian philosophy, the thesis, quality, and its antithesis, quantity, are synthesized as measure which begins with "the specific quantum," the point at which a quantitative change becomes qualitative. The sheer quantity of high quality instalments in the Technic History enhances the quality of the series as a whole. Or something.

Quality And Quantity
Recent posts demonstrate how far Poul Anderson's Technic History goes beyond Robert Heinlein's original Future History in terms of the presentation of details in a future history series. There is no comparison. Heinlein's twelve Scribner Juveniles, two Putnam Juveniles and Double Star might, with greater or lesser amounts of rewriting, have been fitted together into a not too internally inconsistent series but they were not. Anderson also has his many futuristic novels that do not fit into any future history series of which he has several, not just one.
