the end of Mirkheim
Van Rijn:
hears from Emil Dalmady about events on Suleiman in "Esau";
hears from Per Stenvik and Manuel Gomez about events on Cain in "The Master Key";
appoints David Falkayn to lead his first trade pioneer crew in "The Trouble Twisters";
reassembles that team and sends it to Babur, then Hermes, in Mirkheim.
This shows us:
how van Rijn relates not only to Falkayn and the trader team but also to some non-recurring characters;
that he is off Earth more often than we might have thought.

Kaor, Paul!
We have to assume Old Nick lived for long periods of time on Earth. And there were other times, not recorded in the stories, when van Rijn was away from Earth for reasons of both business and pleasure.
Ad astra! Sean
