Battle

A Midsummer Tempest, i.

Pistols spat.
Swords sparked.
Mass shoved.
Steel dinned.
Men yelled.
Horses snorted and neighed.
Trumpets rang.
Pennons swayed.
Covenanters scorched.
Scots broke.
Life-Guards harried.
A hundred died.
Steel flashed.
Artillery blared.
Muskets fired.
Drums thuttered.
Slogans tolled.
Cavaliers scattered.
Rupert clamored.
A few rallied.
Independents advanced and killed.

War is horrible and chaotic? I agree! But I cannot say all wars are needless, because I because it does matter, sometimes, which side wins or loses. It would have been far worse for us if Adolf Hitler had won WW II, for example.
