Poul Anderson's Steve Matuchek rescues his young daughter, Valeria, from Hell whereas Alan Moore's Swamp Thing rescues his girlfriend, Abby, from Hell.
Matuchek is a werewolf who meets other standard fantasy beings whereas Swampy meets a werewolf and other standard fantasy beings.
Matuchek tries to communicate telepathically with parallel Earths and Valeria later travels between them whereas Swampy must respond to the spiritual and supernatural aftermath of the destruction of many parallel universes and the merging of five.
Valeria meets characters from two other Anderson novels whereas Swampy meets characters from several other DC Comics titles.

Kaor, Paul!
Werewolves and "other standard fantasy beings" might seem trite and old hat to many of us. BUT, I wonder how we would react if we actually met any of them? Would we really remain that blase? I'm not at all sure I would be!
Ad astra! Sean
