Here is yet another attempt to summarize the pre-Flandry periods of Poul Anderson's Technic History in their original publication order:
8 Polesotechnic League installments in 4 volumes;
1 Ythrian novel in 1 volume;
8 more PL installments sandwiched between -
4 Ythrian short stories, all 12 in 1 volume;
3 more stories that could have been collected in a 7th volume.
Thus, 21 installments in 6 volumes + 3 uncollected installments.
After that, there are:
15 Flandry period installments, comprising 9 volumes + 1 other story;
4 post-Flandry/post-Imperial installments in either 1 or 2 volumes.
Thus, a total of 43 installments, subsequently collected in fictional chronological order in 7 omnibus volumes by Baen Books.
Admirable features of the original publication order were:
a Polesotechnic League tetralogy culminating dramatically in its concluding volume;
a single Ythrian novel set centuries later;
Ythrian introductions and four Ythrian stories in the 6th volume, the Earth Book;
a second lease of life for the League which we thought had been left centuries in the past.
The fourth post-Flandry installment, thus the culminating installment of this entire future history, is "Starfog," a substantial work that we will revisit shortly.

Kaor, Paul!
In addition, Anderson thought it necessary to revise five of his Technic stories to enable them to fit in better with that timeline. Examples being "Margin of Profit" and "Tiger By The Tail." I have argued for including the original texts of these stories as a second part or appendix to a volume collecting the four post-Imperial tales.
Ad astra! Sean
