100 BC And 7100 AD

Compare two recent posts:

Many Realms
Installments Of The Technic History

The Golden Slave is set in and around the Mediterranean area in 100 BC whereas "Starfog" is set at the edge of another spiral arm of the galaxy in 7100 AD yet both were written by Poul Anderson who deploys knowledge of history and mythology in the first of these works and of physics and cosmology in the second.

We Andersonians appreciate not only these contrasting narratives in diverse genres but also their author's comprehensive and creative imagination while also remembering that Nicholas van Rijn from an earlier period of the Technic History is able to meet not only historical figures but also characters from literature and fantasy in the inter-universal inn called the Old Phoenix.

Perhaps what Poul Anderson presents is a "Fiction of Everything."

Kaor, Paul!

And I have wondered if Manuel Argos and Dominic Flandry also visited the Old Phoenix Inn! They would both have been worthy guests of the Taverners.

Ad astra! Sean
