Another Literary Link: Going Places And Meeting People

In Salou (see image), I remembered Poul Anderson's time travel fiction (see From Spain) but did not meet any sf fans. However, we did meet Timothy Pole, author of Be Yourself: The No-Nonsense Guide To Living Effectively (see here) and co-author with Lyudmilla Lyudina of Cross-Cultural Management Challenges. Tim lives in Northampton where he knows Dominic Allard and Alan Moore (see also here, here, here, here, here and here.) Alan wrote the introduction to Dominic Allard's poetry collection and possibly based Ben in Jerusalem on him. Cherie Blair, wife of the then Prime Minister, liked Tim's Be Yourself and invited him to a reception at 10, Downing Street.

Kaor, Paul!

A natural thing for a reader like me was to seek out what the local bookstores are like in places like London, Rome, Lahaina (Maui), or Sarasota (Florida). And there was or is a very good Catholic bookstore with English language sections near the Vatican. So you might have found a bookstore you could use in Tarragona.

So the "interesting" person you met was Timothy Pole. I'll be looking him up.

Sean,
I don't think you'll find a lot about Tim. I gather that, in literary terms, he is just a one-and-half-book guy. Still, that is more than I have had published.

Understood. SOME writers do become famous for writing only one book in their prime. The example I'm thinking of being Harper Lee's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
