More Relevant Other Late Night Reading

I illustrated the "alpenglow" post with appropriate images and was reminded of them by this panel from The Boys: Highland Laddie (and see here).

I do not live far enough north to experience the "simmer dim." And, at this time of year, it is pitch dark outside now at 9.00 PM. Good night.

Paul:
One of the Commissar Ciaphas Cain* books is set on a planet rotationally locked to its sun, with everyone living in the border area between frozen wasteland nightside and baked wasteland dayside. It's noted that they have numerous words in their dialect "describing the exact degree of twilight prevailing at that particular location.... over thirty nouns for semi-darkness, each more improbable-sounding than the last, and delineating a subtlety of difference which could only matter to a people with far too much time on their hands."

David,
I don't believe it! You trump me with another sf book I've never heard of! (Keep it up.)

Kaor, Paul and DAVID!

I too feel just a wee bit melancholy at knowing how much SF I have NOT read! (Smiles)
