Starfarers, 44.
Jensu rules North Meric where there is growing unrest. The North Merican city of Tenoya swarms with Arodan fanatics whose priests no longer preach insurgency but do proclaim how their ancestors resisted the Pacification. (Conquest, obviously.) The Seladorian off-shoot, combining Arodism with a wider range of other ideas, is theoretically peaceful but in practice in conflict with Arods. Technophobic and even mechanoclast Seladorians wreck Arodian robots and municipal machinery. With the city aboil and the garrison barely keeping order, a control team is sent in to:
"'...attack the trouble at its heart.'" (p. 413)
- as if that alone were ever enough to solve such problems!
We recognize Rome, Palestine, Judaism and Christianity transposed into future history. Let us hope that real history does not repeat itself on such a scale.

Kaor, Paul!
If there is going to be some kind of order/peace no State can tolerate the kind of chaos you summarized. Meaning decisive police/military action was needed. So, yes, I expect human history to be as chaotic, contingent, violence prone 11,000 years in the future as it is now.
There was no "Palestine" in the first century AD. The territories involved were called Judae, Samaria, Ga;lilee, etc. At most "Syria-Palestine" was used by the Romans as an administrative name.
Ad astra! Sean
Well, that will do.
