Two Places And A Sparrow

The Avatar, XXIV-XXV.

"'...a cold and brilliant night at Machu Picchu.'" (XXIV, p. 206)

A recording on a giant viewscreen of York Minster:

"...was not static but moved slowly around the delicate facades, soaring and intricate vaults, glowing windows of that loveliest of medieval churches." (XXV, p. 215)

Two places that are seen elsewhere in Poul Anderson's works.

Are the Others who constructed the T machines:

"'Like God? 'His eye is on the sparrow.'" (XXIV, p. 208)

A Biblical allusion.

The Avatar shares the same rich background as Anderson's other works.

Kaor, Paul!

York Minster pleased me far more than did the former Westminster Abbey. The latter was so cluttered up with secular bric a brac that it did not feel like a church.

The Catholic Westminster Cathedral also greatly pleased me. It was one of my favorite places to visit during my London stays.

Ad astra! Sean
