Yu and Zeyd initiate an industrial revolution. Dayan and Mokoena initiate a scientific revolution. Sundaram tries to guide the religious and philosophical transformations inspired by revelations from the quantum intelligences. Envoy has come back in power as Brent had predicted. Household staff are like apprentices. My place would be with Sundaram.
The crew meets to discuss next steps as the immortals did in The Boat Of A Million Years. And we will read of their next step maybe tomorrow. This has been a long reread of a single-volume future history. We are looking back among Poul Anderson's works that deal with slower than light interstellar travel. That excludes the Psychotechnic and Technic future histories but includes quite a few others. The Avatar remains relativistic because it features slower then light craft making space-time jumps by swinging around Tipler machines.
