So why does Tabitha Falkayn continue her association with the dreadful Draun?
He is loyal if arrogant, generous to friends and good company when he wants to be;
his seamanship and her management combine to run a commercial fishery business;
she likes his wife and youngest cubs;
she herself is not perfect.

Each of those admirable personal qualities, loyalty, generosity and good company, is qualified!
Her lack of perfection is beside the point.
Their business and her friendship with his family are important.
Ythrians, like human beings, are individuals. Contrast Draun and Ferune.

Tabitha Falkayn is not perfect? Sure, but I thought her one of the most likable characters in THE PEOPLE OF THE WIND. I did hesitate a bit at her fondness for smoking a pipe! (Smiles)
