Alien Constellations II ?

The Fleet Of Stars, 2-3.

See Alien Constellations.

More stars are visible in space, therefore also new constellations - unless there are too many stars to make discernible patterns. From the orbiting Habitat, Fenn sees:

"...the Bears in pursuit of the Peacock and the Chameleon..." (2, p. 14)

I had not heard of either the Peacock or the Chameleon. However, googling reveals that they are both small southern constellations, not new patterns imagined by Poul Anderson. Likewise, apparently, from Alpha Centauri, Sol is in Cassiopeia. (2, p. 25) We will have to travel a long way to see new constellations.

Meanwhile, Fenn rages as Guthrie approaches.

Kaor, Paul!

I remember that raging by Fern! He was feeling smothered, choked, and frustrated on Earth! Life was easy, gentle, comfortable on Earth for humans--and MEANINGLESS. Humans were not making the real decisions, the AIs were. And the AIs were slowly removing humans from space.

Sean,

Fern was on the Moon but you are basically correct.

Paul.

I remember that, now, as well. But it was not enough for Fern. And how would it before the AIs ruling Earthly slowly and subtly engineered the evacuation of humans from the Moon?
