On Gwydion, one of the Holy Cities was deliberately built in a location where it would be protected from lethal, metal-rich volcanic ash by the Steeps of Kolumkill.
Glencolmcille, the Valley of Colm Cille, is a place name in Ireland. Colm Cille, Patrick and Brigid (scroll down) (see also Brigit) are the three patron saints of Ireland.
And I did not expect to find all those connections when I googled Colmcille.

Kaor, Paul!
I'm busy rereading Stirling's A TAINT IN THE BLOOD, but I'm starting to think the next Anderson story I should reread is THE NIGHT FACE. All the more so because of the comparatively few times I've read that story. Perhaps only twice?
