Farce

(I googled for images of Genesis and found an Irish translation.)

Dominic Flandry imagines a creation myth here. The gods wanted to be entertained by a farce  - or maybe a high comedy. Not a tragedy?

Of course, this explanation of creation is neither literal nor serious but adaptations of myths and traditional stories are one way to comment on reality.

HG Wells has a very short story about the Day of Judgment. The human race in alphabetical order, starting with Aaa..., confesses to very great sins. Their Judge convicts them of petty, discreditable sins, then, having cured them of their vanity, deposits them on a new Earth to begin anew. Not a credible prophecy but a comment on humanity. Anderson similarly comments in his story about the day the Earth stopped - title?

Kaor, Paul!

Or perhaps the history of the human race is a tragicomedy?

And you were thinking, I believe, of Anderson's story "A Chapter of Revelation."

Sean,
That's it. A rather forgettable title, I think.
Paul.

Kaor, Paul!

I thought it a clear enough, even pithy title!
