Brechdan Ironrede And Olaf Magnusson

Brechdan stands on the terrace of Castle Dhangodhan. Magnusson stands on the observation deck of his home in the desirable tract north of Aurea on Daedalus.

Brechdan has a scar that throbs on his forehead. Magnusson's left cheek has a battle scar which he has not had removed and which has become his trademark.

Brechdan persuaded Erik Magnusson to serve the God, the Roidhun and the Race and to give them his son, Olaf. The boy was trained in a secret school on Merseia and conditioned by Aycharayach. Thus, Brechdan and Aycharaych wrought long term harm. Tachwyr had succeeded Brechdan and Chereion had been destroyed before Olaf tried to seize the Terran Throne.

A sleeper agent is like a loaded gun; it can be stored long-term.

Kaor, Paul and Mr. Stirling!

And Brechdan Ironrede had ANOTHER deep cover sleeper agent secretly whom we never see mentioned again. This is what Dwyr the Hook discovered when he managed to penetrate the Protector's most secret files in Chapter 12 of ENSIGN FLANDRY: "Maxwell Crawford [name italicized]: Ha, the Terran Emperor's governor of the Arachnean System was in Merseian pay. A sleeper, kept in reserve." Where was the Arachnean System? What harm did Maxwell Crawford manage to inflict on the Empire? Was his treachery ever discovered and punished?

I think it is necessary to keep in mind that Tachwyr the Dark was very likely not the immediate successor of Brechdan Ironrede as Protector of the Roidhun's Grand Council. THE GAME OF EMPIRE is set about 48 years after ENSIGN FLANDRY, so there must have been other Protectors preceding Tachwyr in that office.
