The Past In The Time Patrol Series: 69-70 A.D.

"Star of the Sea."

In 69-70 A.D.:

Kwang Wu-Ti and the later Han dynasty
Satavahanas overrunning India
Vologaeses I resisting rebels and invaders in Persia
Roman civil war
Batavian revolt
Vespasian and his son, Titus, defeat Vitellius
suppression of Jewish rebellion
destruction of the Third Temple
consequences for Judaism, Christianity, Empire, Europe, world

Prophetic religion crystallized as either Torah or Gospel.

Time travel implications:

fanatics or freebooters want to change what happened in Jerusalem (have some succeeded without our realizing?);

researchers crowding in can change what happens;

temporal physics - multiple causes and effects make reality unstable as far away as barbarian Germany;

the Patrol is preoccupied with Palestine while a potential change begins in the North.

As long as a time traveller remains in the twentieth century, he has nothing to fear. However, while he is in a nexus period, he must heed the consequences of his actions. He might return to an altered twentieth century.
