Calling The Dead

The Shield Of Time, PART FOUR, 13,211 B.C., III.

When Wanda asks Aryuk why he had not told Corwin that Daraku had died, Aryuk replies:

"'Why should I go to him, then, if I dared? Can he call back the dead? Can you?'" (p. 207)

As a matter of fact, the Time Patrollers can do precisely that although they will not. However, by traveling forwards and backwards in time, Wanda and Aryuk will stage an extremely effective ghostly apparition.

On this occasion, as Wanda leaves Aryuk:

"A flaw of wind whirled down to rattle skinny boughs." (p. 208)

Regular blog readers know that I now note every time the wind underlines, or seems to comment on, human moods and actions.

Kaor, Paul!

Anderson's use of the wind here was a PREMONITORY moment, just Wanda before got the idea leading to that "ghostly apparition"?
