Anderson's Law?

"Inconstant Star," Chapter XV.

"'Anderson's Law, remember: 'Everything takes longer and costs more.'" (p. 270)

Whose Law is it? See Jerry Pournelle Quotes.

See also Hofstadter's Law, Murphy's other Laws, the Guardian Business Podcast, Financial Samurai.

I also found:

Sheila translated Peter Nordbo's Dutch for me:

"'Sind Sie wirklich Menschen?... Gud Jesu, endelig! Hvor langst, hvor langst -'" (p. 267)

"Are you really people?... Good Jesus, at last! Long wished for, long wished for -'"

That's a nice bit of extrapolation there -- the language is sort of a Scandinavian-influenced German, I think.
